Flying Falcons Guard the Grapes

Falcon kites are soaring above Char Vale again this harvest season, to protect the ripening fruit from birds that delight in the sweet, Green Valley of the Russian River, Pinot Noir grapes.

The pictures here are of various kites positioned around the vineyard. Since the birds are smart and soon realize that the "falcon" is staying in one area, we have to move the kites around regularly to simulate different flight patterns.

One of the pictures below has a real raptor circling and checking out the kites. Can You spot it?

Come see the kites. They are mesmerizing as they fly and have different colored markings. You may develop a favorite to watch, as you sip our wines.
